KATE HACKETT

is a filmmaker and film editor based in Los Angeles. She is a 2020 Emmy winner for her editing work on the Netflix documentary series Cheer. Her work as an editor also includes the Emmy winning Netflix documentary series Last Chance U, and the Sundance documentary feature Half The Picture. She was the 2018 Sundance Institute Sally Menke Editing Fellow.

As a director, her art films for large-scale concerts have been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues including the Hollywood Bowl, The Apollo Theater, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. These projects include the multi-media concert Portals, featuring violinist Tim Fain, which was the premiere of Philip Glass's Partita For Solo Violin.

She has been a resident artist at Yaddo and Kaneko Experimental Studios.

As a screenwriter, she was a 2016 American Zoetrope Screenwriting contest finalist with the screenplay Purify My Heart.

Most recently, she is the February 2021 Short Film Showcase Mentor for the Cinema Femme Magazine Short Film Festival. She will be engaging in a six-month mentorship process with an emerging womxn filmmaker.
